Fête des Lumières (Lyon 2019)

Prairie éphémère – Place Bellecour

5 – 8 december 2019

Around the foot of the statue of Louis XIV, Place Bellecour is transformed into a vast illuminated meadow. Strange flying creatures – the Luminéoles – inhabit a field planted with 500 pampas grasses. These 4-metre tall glowing plants reflect the light, creating a veritable tableau vivant, first a wild meadow then a bizarre ocean. The grasses and birds interact in a colourful dance. No bigger than ants in this oversized natural world, the spectators gaze upwards in fascination.

Fête des Lumières – rue de la république

Suspended overhead along the Rue de la République, 300 physalis twinkle and change shades in the wind, as if stirred by an invisible breeze.

The public’s gaze is drawn upwards to admire these lush natural lanterns – perforated or ribbed, lily-shaped or open wide to reveal their glowing heart. Between the Place de la République and Cordeliers, they come alive, responding to the people below and glittering to the tune of a gentle melody creating a unique musical harmony.

An interactive, musical dreamscape in the heart of the city.

Lumineoles went overs seas for “Lumiere”, the UK’s largest light fetival. Phenomenal success and amazed visitors. 30 artists from all over the world were here to present a stunning show around light theme. A free, magic and technicaly impressive installation event in places such as Piccadilly, Mayfair, King’s Cross, Trafalgar Square and Westminster.

Well organized by Artichoke, this 4 days festival offers a marvellous journey through London from 6:30 pm to 10:30pm.
